The Back Page . . . An Editorial

A View From Peavine Ridge . . .

Questions, anyone . . . ?

Someone asked me the other day, "Art, why do you call your editorial 'A View From Peavine Ridge'? Aren't your opinions 'The View From Peavine Ridge'?"

"I don't think so!" I replied. "Several folks live here on Peavine Ridge, all of 'em our neighbors. Each one of 'em has a unique view of things, I suppose. Sometimes, I think I wish I could get everyone to think the same as I do about everything. That way I wouldn't think they were so hard-headed."

Well, they're not really hard-headed. Not all of them, anyway. But, if I started calling this editorial page The View From Peavine Ridge . . ., I'm sure I'd hear about that right away. I'd probably even have to answer to a few of them.

Much to my dismay, most of the time mine is only one of several views from this Ridge.

"How do I write to one of your writers . . .?"

Have you ever wondered that? Some of our readers have, and they've asked us. The easiest way is simply to click on the Mail Slot icon in the Table of Contents frame to the left (if you're viewing the frames version, just on the Table Of Contents page, if you're not.) That will get email to our editorial offices here at Focus On Jesus. (Clicking on the mailbox below will address it to the same place.) Just mention the name of the person to whom you're writing in the body of the text, like "Dear (writer's name). . ." Then just say what you want that person to know. We'll pass it along, quickly.

[Editor's Note:  We've quit using frames when we moved to our new site.  Watch for the Mail Slot Icon elsewhere.]

Why don't we just include their e-mail address under their names? We were planning to do that, but haven't for a few reasons. The number one reason is that many of our writers do not have e-mail, yet. Can you believe it? Writing for an electronic, cyberspace "e-zine" and no e-mail? However, that's the way it is. A few others write under a nom de plume (pen name) and would prefer not to be otherwise identified for various good reasons.

In any case, any of our writers, past, present, or future would really be blessed to hear from you. After all, they need encouragement, too.

So . . . write on!

Do you have an article, a poem, a picture, a meditation, a song, or something else in your heart you'd like to share with others . . . ?

A while back, someone else asked me if we'd be interested in receiving articles for publication in Focus On Jesus.

The answer is "Yes."

Our readers would surely like to hear what you have to say. Just take a look at the first page that pops up when you click on http://www.focusonjesus.org/

Along with our logo, there appears on that page a summary of what we are trying to do. Also, from the table of contents, click on "Our Mission". There, you'll find our objectives, stated as succinctly as we know how.

Whatever thoughts you have to share with us, just make your written contribution consistent with those rather broad objectives, and contact us about it. You need not belong to a particular church (nor belong to one at all) to share with us through Focus On Jesus. This ministry is both non-denominational, and inter-denominational, and a-denominational (if I may coin a word).

If you'd like to inquire about how to send your article, poetry, artwork, sound track, or whatever, send us email at discfell@vol.com or, click on the mailbox.

We're excited about hearing from you. Your testimony and your thoughts will bless others - but only if you share them.

Other contributions . . .

We hesitate to mention it, but Focus On Jesus is supported entirely by voluntary contributions (tax deductible in the USA, of course). We exist on "love offerings."

We believe that our primary focus is not to stand out front with our "hand out" looking for a handout, making a pitch for your money. Our primary focus is to share with others some ideas about a life centered around Jesus, and what that means in our every day living. We pray to be helpful in living for our Lord "where the rubber meets the road".

Pray about whether or not to contribute anything. If Focus On Jesus has blessed you in any way, and if you'd like to help assure that this ministry continues, send your tax deductible contribution to:

Disciples Fellowship - PO Box 845 - LaFayette, GA 30728-0845

We will send receipts for any contribution greater than $200.00 without your having to request one. However, if your contribution is less than that (and most are!), if you would like a receipt, please let us know. All funds go toward paying for the web site, data storage, or computer support. No one at Disciples Fellowship nor at its primary publication - Focus On Jesus - gets paid anything.

Tell a friend . . .

If you've been blessed by the messages on these electronic "pages", then tell a friend about us and invite them to visit and browse.

Links, anyone . . . ?

Also, when you're sending Email, please tell us about your favorite spiritually-related web sites. We'd like to link 'em up for you. We try to add a few each time we publish, but only after we've visited and reviewed them ourselves. We wouldn't want to link any site we would we would feel uncomfortable about children seeing.

Thanks, again, for listening.
