A Prayer Request . . .

A few days before we posted this edition of Focus On Jesus, a "cyber-friend" whom I have never met, sent his prayer request to a discussion group of Christians. Among much else that he does as led by our Lord, Dee Douglas is the "keeper" of the mailing list for a discussion and prayer group who have in common having been on a weekend Walk To Emmaus, Cursillo, or Tres Dias (Three Days); or a similar a weekend for teens, called Chrysalis, or the prison ministry -- Kairos.

People all over the world have been blessed, because, long ago, Dee turned his life completely over to our Lord and placed himself totally into God's hands. His attitude is: service, stewardship, and devotion to the Lord, his family, and others.

I pass this prayer request on to you because I know we have readers who are both diligent and constant in prayer. Wasn't it the Lord's brother, James, who said, "Confess your sins to each other, and pray on behalf of one another, so that you may be cured, because the petition of a righteous one is quite effective, being very strong indeed . . ."? (James 5:16)

Here is the request as I received it via e-mail from Dee Douglas:

Prayer Request by Dee Douglas:

Subject: Prayer Request

From: Dee Douglas

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Last March, I requested prayers for my cancer surgery and received a wonderful outpouring of love and grace from a great many of you around the world.

Today I am before you again, humbly asking for your prayers for me and my wife. Tomorrow, Wednesday, I will have another CAT scan, and on Friday (November 21) I will begin chemotherapy.

I ask for your prayers for Margie to calm her fears about losing me to this cancer thing, and that she won't have to take off too much time from her Elementary School teaching (4th grade), to be driving me back and forth to the Cancer Center for treatments. She has always been there for every doctor visit, CAT scan, tissue biopsy, surgery (had 3 so far), bone marrow biopsy, x-ray, blood drawing, etc. . . . the whole process.

I ask for your prayers that I will be able to tolerate the chemotherapy treatments with little or no side effects that will interfere with my continuing to minister in the way the Lord had intended, and that the treatments will meet the intended goals.

Your brother in Christ, Dee Douglas ("We are called by God")

If you would like to communicate with Dee, his email address is ewwte@bmi.net

He and Margie will both be glad to know you're praying for them during this fiery trial, and that, by the grace of God, he will survive this crucible, and be well and whole again.

If you'd like to know more about the Emmaus Movement throughout the world, they have several pages on the Internet, but you can begin at http://www.upperroom.org/emmaus/

We recommend that you learn more about it, and pray about whether you should participate one of these really blessed weekends.
